Course Schedule

The purpose of this 24 hours course is to provide basic training to personnel working with aviation resources on an incident. Emphasis is placed on the basic knowledge a trainee needs to function safely around aircraft. In addition, the + segment of the course provides the trainee with knowledge needed to operate economically and to provide the trainee with the management criteria needed to fulfill fiscal responsiblities to the home unit by utilizing the appropriate aircraft for the task in question. Subject matter includes; the type of aircraft used in the suppression and support effort, air attack and support organizations, methods of air attack and support on wildfires, general safety in air operations around fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, and the construction of helispots.

Prerequisites include Firefighter Training (S-130) and Introduction to Fire Behavior (S-190) or Basic Wildland Fire Fighting (BWFF). This class is recommended for those individuals reaching the single resource boss qualification.
