A cooperative website funded by the Joint Fire Science Program is dedicated to Enhancing collaboration and building community capacity in the devlopment of Community Wildfire Portection Plans. This site describes an applied research project that seeks to analyze the lessons learned about collaborative processes among approximately ten CWPP development processes in the United States. It will also be a means of sharing the lessons discovered during the case studies. You can visit the website by following this link:

Risk Map
Risk is based upon the historical
occurrenceof wildland fire at a
given place.

Hazard Map
Hazard is based upon factors such as fuel types and condition, natural fire regimes, and topography and the influence of structures.

Land Hazard Map
Land Hazard analysis calculates the
same hazards as the map to the left
without the influence of structures

Wildland-Urban Interface Map
This map is based on the analysis factors used in the maps above. It provides communities and managers with a method with which to prioritze treatment areas and identify areas which should receive more detailed assessment.

 

Wildland-Urban Interface Map
This map is similar to the one at left. It only shows the High, and Moderate classes for clarity.
