WE ACCOMPLISH OUR MISSION THROUGH:

COOPERATION & COORDINATION

The Forestry Division:

  • Works cooperative with Federal, Tribal, state, and local agencies and private industry
  • Through working agreements, provides coordination for seven state agencies with 190 local fire departments and five private fire departments
  • Has ready access to:
    • Over 1,000 local fire fighting vehicles
    • More than 1,800 trained local wildland fire fighters,
    • Substantial national resources from the Federal agencies.

WE PROVIDE SERVICES IN:

  • Prevention Planning
    Provide assistance to rural communities in wildfire prevention and hazard reduction planning.
  • Training
    Annually sponsors 25 fire fighting courses resulting in training 750 local fire fighters
  • Dispatching
    Annually processes over 10,000 requests for assistance
  • Equipping
    185 reconditioned excess property, fire fighting vehicles and specialized equipment units are currently in use by rural fire departments
